ABOUT US

25 years mark - Commonfield

The Commonfield story began in 1995 with the design, manufacture and marketing of a range of products created using decorative glass in collaboration with Glaverbel/AGC Glass in Belgium. One of the partnership’s early successes was a unique coloured glass, sliding-door wardrobe system – a pioneering product that has grown into a global market product worth many millions per annum.

To this day, sliding-door wardrobes are still a substantial part of Commonfield’s core business – and the product for which we are best known – but we have found that the ingenuity and rigorous attention to detail we invested in those original units, combined with design discipline, quality manufacturing and superb customer service, are equally effective when applied to kitchens and bathrooms. Since then we have become one of the UK’s leading fitted furniture manufacturer.

It is not enough, though, that we got it right in the beginning: we are determined to keep getting it right for the future. That is not just an aspiration – we already have the accreditations that prove we mean it: including ISO 9001 (Quality Management), ISO 14001 (Environmental) and ISO 45001 (Health & Safety).

Right from the start, Commonfield has been committed to training and systemization as the foundation of our success – a commitment that led us to establish the Commonfield Academy. Much more than a training facility, the academy ensures that everyone working on a Commonfield site not only knows their own trade, but also gains an intimate and detailed understanding of ours: producing the very finest in fitted kitchens, bedrooms and bathrooms.

WHY US?

MANUFACTURED IN THE UK

Complete control of our fitted furniture manufacturing means we have complete capability and a degree of agility that’s hard to beat. It gives us a rare flexibility in product specification, which means we are rarely beaten on price.

What’s more, we can meet your deadlines with the shortest lead times thanks to our 40,000 sq. ft Dunstable factory, which, equipped with the latest CNC & edge banding technology is capable of making 800+ doors/carcasses a week.

That quantity capability is underpinned by a commitment to quality embodied in ISO 9001, ISO 45001, SMAS and CQMS accreditations and a deeply embedded Health & Safety and environmentally conscious culture.

TRUSTED TRADESMEN

All of our fitters are skilled carpenters with construction site fitting experience and CSCS cards. However, no matter how experienced or expert, no-one works on a Commonfield site until they have attended the Commonfield Installation Academy at our Dunstable Headquarters.

This dedicated training facility assesses each fitter’s abilities and grades their suitability for the varying complexities of the installations we undertake – so you can be confident that your installation is being handled by people who know their stuff.

AFTER CARE

Once our installation is complete, we check our work and have it signed off on site. That is not the end of our role, though. On the contrary, as soon as our part of your project is complete, we cover it with Correx boards to avoid damage during your ongoing works and, should any snags arise, you can count on our no-quibble remedial service to put things right.

Finally, we give some thought to the people who will be living with and using the fruits of our labour in the form of comprehensive information about our products. That may include drawings/plans, materials lists, cleaning/maintenance instructions etc, all of which are helpful additions to the developer’s Operation and Maintenance Manual for the homebuyer.

SKILLED DESIGNERS

By definition, a great designer is individual – someone with creative flair – but there is one thing all our talented designers share: the imagination, creativity and eye for detail to bring a fresh, exciting approach to your project.

Experienced in working to complex, detailed briefs, they can advise on room set-up location and layout before using the latest in 3D and CAD design software to create comprehensive drawings for pre-production approval.

Quality Management Systems

Important as it is, we see our ISO 9001 accreditation not as an end in itself but as a benchmark by which we must constantly measure our performance. Only by constantly reviewing what we do and how we do it can we find ways to improve and refine our offering – and make sure our products and services continue to meet and exceed our customers’ requirements.

“Over the last 25 years we’ve learnt a thing or two about quality – but what’s even more important is that we never stop learning”
