120 Wardrobes

YEAR

2017

Dollar Bay is a 31-storey residential tower block development in Docklands, London E14. The site contains 115 homes for private sale and 10 shared ownership.

The £90 million pound project was designed by the internationally-acclaimed Ian Simpson Architects, Dollar Bay offers a range of studio, one, two and three bedroom homes, each of which have an enclosed ‘winter garden’. The penthouse is over three-storeys and boasts 360-degree views of London.

THE BRIEF

Having worked on several Mount Anvil projects we were very excited to get the opportunity to work on Dollar Bay. The brief was split into the main building and penthouses. The theme within the building was to offer elegant open-plan design with uninterrupted views over London and a focus on indoor to outdoor living.

For the main building the brief required 2 different wardrobe specs. Mirrored fitted wardrobe doors with a simple shelf and rail interior for the shared ownership flats and white glass sliding doors with a fully lined carcase for the private flats. The penthouse properties opted for hinged doors with cut out exposed shelving detail and a fully lined carcase.

  • Start on site: February 2016
  • Complete on site: January 2017
  • Quantity: 123 wardrobes
  • Product type: Sliding mirrored and white glass doors, mix of no carcase and fully lined carcase with interior. Hinged acrylic super matt grey doors, fully lined carcase and interior.

THE PROCESS

Our design team worked on our response to Mount Anvil’s brief, they provided detailed plans for both the main building and the penthouse bedrooms. Samples were included to show the quality and finish for the doors, interior and framework.

An installation plan was submitted to meet Mount Anvil’s build schedule and a Site Manager was appointed to make sure everything ran smoothly and deadlines were met.

THE RESULT

The glass/mirror fitted wardrobes in the main building helped to make the bedrooms feel spacious and bright by bouncing the light from the large windows back into the room. The exposed shelving in the penthouse wardrobes gave an added design feature that enhanced the bedrooms and linked into the dressing table. All work was completed and signed off by the end of January 2017 in line with Mount Anvil’s build schedule.
