PROJECT

42 Wardrobes

YEAR

2022

Zero Developments London LTD are a Carbon Neutral residential property development company. Their company ethos is to continue constructing sustainable housing without compromising on quality or design. In this development they use solar panels to store energy in communal batteries meaning home owners/tenants can live off grid for some of the year. The apartments are open plan with triple glazed windows letting the light flood into all the rooms.

THE BRIEF

Having not worked with Zero Developments before we were excited to get the opportunity to work on our first project with them. Their company ethos of sustainability without sacrificing on quality or design is very much inline with our own mission to reduce our carbon footprint.

The apartment block had 35 apartments over 4 floors with a mix of studio, 1, 2 and 3 bed properties. The brief was to fit a 2 or 3 door sliding wardrobe in all master bedrooms and a second wardrobe in bed 2 on the larger apartments, The design was key to get right to match the spec of the building. The space lent itself well to using our sliding door wardrobes and the majority of the wardrobes were finished in Lincoln Walnut with Champagne door trim and a matching Lincoln Walnut interior.

• Start on site: August 2022
• Complete on site: December 2022
• Quantity: 42 wardrobes
• Product type: A combination of sliding mirror and wood effect wardrobes. Interiors included hanging, shelving and drawers.

THE PROCESS

We had a strong brief to work with so it didn’t take long for our Design Team to complete the drawing stage. To keep inline with the quality finish Zero Developments were looking for we added a couple of design features to elevate it from a standard wardrobe. The top track was hidden behind a header and rebated shelf lights were added which were sensor activated and came on when the doors were opened. Plus drawers were included on the final design to give the homeowner comprehensive internal storage.

Samples were submitted of all the products we planned to use to show the high quality finish and once these were confirmed a Site Manager was instructed to schedule the work and plan for the Installation Team to go in and complete the install of 42 wardrobes which was carried out in phases in line with Zero Developments build programme.

THE RESULT

The Lincoln Walnut and Champagne door trim worked well together and injected a natural element into the bedrooms. The sliding doors helped to create spacious feel by not taking up any floor space to open the doors. All work was completed and signed off by the end of December 2022 in line with the build programme when the last few homeowners moved into the properties before Christmas.

CUSTOMER QUOTE

‘I’m so pleased we used Commonfield as our wardrobe subcontractors. Commonfield fitters were great, highly professional, polite and even cleared up after themselves! Unheard of on a building site. The entire installation process was arguably the best of all those who came to our site. They left no damage to walls and no ‘after installation’ snagging needed to be carried out, which was one less thing to worry about. Any additional work was easy to arrange and swift to execute. With the efficient installation, the competitive price and quality of the product, I will definitely been using Commonfield on the next project and would recommend them to anybody. Finally, all our buyers loved their new sliding door wardrobes!’

DOLLAR BAY LONDON DOCKLANDS

We were very excited to get the opportunity to work on Dollar Bay for Mount Anvil. The brief was split into the main building and penthouses. The theme within the building was to offer elegant open-plan design with uninterrupted views over London and a focus on indoor to outdoor living.
